The EVONIK E310 building is envisioned to be a refined working space for staff operations and research.
The design intentionally breaks away from the convention of what an industrial operational building should look or feel like.
A modular system of extruded windows and perforated aluminium panels were created for the external façade. Segmentation of the panels and windows reflect Evonik’s organization and structure. This design idea carries through into the entrance hall, where a regular grid of boxes finished in acoustic timber panels and framed glass greets the visitor of the building. The grid continues at the ceiling in the form of louvered glass panel skylighting to control the quality of daylight in the hall.
The hall divides the building into two wings – one dedicated to the office spaces and the other to laboratory research and staff locker areas, allowing for better pedestrian circulation and chemical control. To create a unified design language, the rooms’ interiors are finished in the similar monochromatic palette of the exteriors. Spaces with the large tall external windows create a comfortable working environment for the staff. The overall design is one that is minimalist in nature but speaks clearly through clean lines.
