Ice cube inspired mall sparkles in the West

The Project

Resembling an ice cube, this entertainment and shopping mall boasts Singapore’s first Olympic size ice skating rink. It has green features like a rainwater harvesting tank and an ice rink grey-water recycling system. With a roller blading rooftop park and IMAX theatre, this mall has become a prime destination.

The Challenge

A major focus was on sustainable design. Precast concrete panels helped to create the challenging six-sided exterior, with very low overall heat gain. A considerable amount of sustainable materials were used. Outdoor terraces and an evaporative cooling system also helped to soften and cool the mall.
