Hengqin District Central Area Urban Design Plan

Walkable city, with pockets of surprises

The Project

Taking advantage of its close proximity to Macau and Hong Kong and leveraging on its rich natural environment, Hengqin is positioned as an emerging tourist destination in the dynamic Pearl Delta region.

The plans propose a walkable city with a low rise fabric, filled with an extensive network of green pockets.

The Challenge

The plans focused on proposing a careful mix of recreational and entertainment amenities that build on Hengqin’s assets, deepening the cluster of tourist offerings.

Roads and pedestrian networks were planned around existing constraints, with green linkages and view corridors punctuating through strategic areas.
