Terminal 4 wins Structural Steel Excellence Award
28 Nov 2018
In recognition of our innovative use of structural steel in Changi Airport Terminal 4, RSP was recently awarded “The Most Innovative, Efficient and Productive Use of Steel Structures in the Built Environment” at the biennial Structural Steel Excellence Awards 2018. The award is organised by the Singapore Structural Steel Society and aims to celebrate excellence in the field of steel construction, demonstrating its potential in terms of efficiency, cost effectiveness, aesthetics and innovation.
This is the second time RSP is being recognised with the Structural Steel Excellence Award, having first received a merit award in 2016 for the Sentosa Intra-Island Cableway, where RSP is the architectural and civil & structural engineering consultant.
Receiving the award on behalf of RSP is Director Jessica Lim who shared during the awards presentation how the team made use of the superior strength-to-weight ratio of structural steel, together with innovative and safe engineering solutions to overcome the challenges faced for Terminal 4. The outcome is a robust structural system which maximises buildability and productivity. For the ingenious engineering solutions for Changi Airport Terminal 4, RSP had also received top honours in the BCA Design & Engineering Safety Excellence Awards 2018.
