RSP designs first Hindu temple in UAE

13 Aug 2018

RSP has been appointed as the lead consultant and designer for BAPS Hindu Mandir - the first Hindu temple to be constructed in the UAE.

The much anticipated temple complex will be constructed in Abu Dhabi by Mandir Limited, a registered company with the Abu Dhabi Government, along with BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, a global organisation managing Hindu temples. RSP is partnering BAPS and other established sub-consultants including international engineering firm Ramboll to develop the prestigious cultural and spiritual center.

The exterior of the temple will be made of pink sandstone from Rajasthan (a state in India) and the interior will use white marble that is handcrafted by artisans from India. The complex will include spaces for children's activities, exhibitions and multiple prayer halls to serve the community, as well as a vegetarian food court among other facilities.

The agreement was signed during a press conference held on 9 August in the presence of over 100 guests, including Navdeep Singh Suri, Ambassador of India to the UAE and His Excellency Samuel Tan Chi Tse, Ambassador of Singapore to the UAE.

Senior Managing Director of RSP, Mr Lai Huen Poh shared during the press conference, “RSP is truly inspired to serve the greater good through this project which is both historic and humanitarian.”

Clinching this high-profile project is indeed an affirmation of RSP's strong design capabilities across sectors and geographies, as we continue to design built environments that enrich and transform people's lives.
